This Friday we’ve got a couple of layouts and a quick page tutorial.

Quick Page Tutorial by Carol House

Now that we have all of these FREE neat quick pages, I thought it would be a great idea to share a tutorial on how to use one.

Using a quick page is very simple.   First you begin by downloading the page you want to use.  I am choosing the Grunge Quick Page.  Then you will need to click on “save” and decide where you want to save your quick page and click “save” again.  Sometimes I choose to save it on my desktop so it is easy to find.

After downloading your file, you will need to click on it to extract the compressed files.  I use a free program called jzip to open my files.  There are plenty of zip file programs to choose from on the internet.   Next you will need to click on open.  You will see a window that shows the file you downloaded.  Highlight it and then click on “extract file.”

Now you decide where you want to open your compressed file.  You can save it to your desktop or you can choose to save it in a place that is convenient for you.  I usually save my quick pages with the digital kit they go with.

Now you are ready to use your quick page.    I use Photoshop Elements 8.0 when working with quick pages.  So you will need to open Photoshop Elements or your photo editing software.  Then click on “ file” and open your quick page.

Now you are ready to choose a photo to place in your quick page.  Once you have opened your photo you will need to make the window smaller so you can drag it to your quick page.

Now it is time to change the size of your photo to fit the space on your quick page.   The next step is to highlight the photo layer and click on “send backward.”  This will place your photo behind the frame.  You can continue to resize the photo and move it around until you are pleased with the placement.

Now you are ready to save your layout.  Click on “save as” and give your layout a new name so that you don’t make changes to your original quick page file.  Then change your file type to jpeg as seen below and click on “save.”  You will be asked how large you want your file to be.  I always choose maximum.  Then you can resize the layout later if needed.   Your layout is now complete!

Make sure you stay tuned tomorrow for more digital love in our Sketch/template blog post!!

Peachy Keen layouts

Ok – today it’s time to show you our Peachy Keen layouts! Again this is another gorgeous range that Kaisercraft have some up with – the blues, burnt orange and red colours are perfect for scrapping those summer photos we southern hemisphere-ians have lots of at the moment! The colours also lend themselves to very autumn type pages too – with those burnt colours and dark brown being a very warm colour combination.

First up we have Sam Hauzer’s LO of her 2 gorgeous kids. Again, Sam’s attention to detail looks fabulous with all her handcutting!

“Love, friends, fun” by Sam Hauzer – Peachy Keen papers, embellishment pack and magazine freebies.

And here is my layout featuring photos of my niece and daughter being ,well, dorks – so I called it as it was!

“Dorks” by Fran Tynan – Peachy Keen papers, die-cuts, black and white rub-ons, alphabet stickers & embellishment pack.

Peachy Keen & Gypsy Sisters are now available in stores – so if you use these papers, upload to our gallery and let us see what you’ve been working on! We love seeing everyone’s work.
