A is for Apple, B is for birthday

Hello!! Trudi and Nerrida here.

Don’t you just love how fabulous and bright the new Class of ’87 collection is – I know I do.  Of course this collection is perfect for scrapping our school year memories and also with a brand new school year kicking off , I am sure that there will be some great first day back photos to record as well.  Although I do have a school aged child,  today I am sharing a layout that is not school orientated.

I confess to being quite partial to apples.  The inspiration for my layout came about when I discovered the super cute apple print patterned paper from the ‘Paper Pad’ and apple chipboard accent from the Printed Chipboard Pack.

‘Apple of my eye’ is a familiar saying and goes hand in hand with the apple theme that I had in mind.  The large red ‘ A’  also from the Printed Chipboard Pack was perfect for beginning my title.

Layout ‘Apple of my Eye’ by Trudi Harrison.  Materials Used: Class of ’87 Paper Pad PP837, Patterned Paper Excursion P622, Printed Chipboard CB122, Die Cut Elements DC334, Clear Stamps CS771; Wooden Flourish – Elm Tree FL327, Chipboard Alphas – 1,2 & 3, Mini Alpha Stickers – Black & White MA501, Black Ink, Rubons.  Other: Cardstock – White & Black, McGill Leaf Punch, Scallop Border Punch, Black Zig Pen, Glimmer Chalk

All patterned papers featured, apart from the little flag banner, are from the Paper Pad.  The flag banner was created from the strip at the bottom of the Excursion Patterned Paper.  The apple scalloped banner was created by drawing a curved line and then tracing around the circular ‘Well Done’ chipboard element to form the scallops.

Faux stitching on the banners and solid pen lines add definition to the paper edges.

Another awesome instalment of wooden flourishes have recently been released.  Here, I have featured the Wooden Flourish – Elm Tree. I have added some foliage by punching some leaf branches from  patterned paper using a punch.

Nerrida says:  Just like Trudi’s layout, you don’t have to restrict yourself to doing school-type projects. I have used the Class of ’87 papers to make this sweet birthday card (well my DD7 tells me its sweet and she would like to get it) hint hint Mum.

Birthday card by Nerrida Mitchell: Class of ’87 Paper – Assembly (P619), Paper pad (PP837), Printed chipboard (CB122), Paper flowers (F601).
