How long have you been scrapbooking for and why did you start? About 7 years ago. My mum gave me a voucher for a local scrapbook shop, and a friend encouraged me to give it go. I agreed, provided it was understood I was not cutting up my photos. I spent that first class trimming them into 2” squares, and couldn’t sleep that night for planning my next page. And so it began….
Where do you get your inspiration from? Anywhere and everywhere! Photos, magazines, quotes, lyrics…pretty much anything visual or textual can be the starting point of a layout or project. Anything Ali Edwards does, ever. And being around other scrapbookers is always inspiring .
Favourite subject to scrap – My family – recording the little quirks, interests, traits and moments that make them who they are. In fact, all the little happinesses and blessings that would otherwise get lost or overlooked in the business of everyday life. I’m much more drawn to creating a layout about, say, a Lego car my son worked on all afternoon, rather than a birthday one. ( It’s the “want-to” layout vs the “have to” layout ) I also love doing tribute albums – there’s something so special about tangible proof that you’re loved and appreciated.
One word to describe YOURSELF? Content
One word to describe your scrapping STYLE - Photocentric
Favourite Quote – My absolute favourite would look like an essay here! So I’ll go with my favourite short one: “There isn’t any such thing as ordinary life” L. M. Montgomery
Last Book You Have Read – My Sister’s Keeper by Jodi Picoult. Tissues. Many, many tissues…
Favourite Music? Love, love , love Celtic music – Enya, Celtic Woman….with a little bit of Harry Connick Jr thrown in for good measure
Favourite Food? Gluten! I could happily live on bread and pasta
Favourite Kaisercraft Product? Have to confess to being a paper junkie. But in a nice way…
Favourite Kaisercraft Paper range to date? Ever Blooming. And Sakura Park. Oh, and Distracted with black & white photos. Can I go for four? ‘Cause Rustic Charm is utterly wonderful for sepia shots. I’ll stop there...
Any Tips for a New Scrapper? There’s no such thing as the perfect page. Find inspiration in other people’s work, but remember – they’re your photos and your memories; record them the way you want to, without worrying about how you ‘should’ do it…And enjoy it; it’s meant to be fun!
Your advice to the world… Again, “there isn’t any such thing as ordinary life”.
