Gypsy journal

Hi again.  This afternoon I am popping back to share with you the new Kaisercraft journal I have decorated using the stunning Gypsy Sisters collection.

I fell in love with this journal as soon as I saw it and the possibilities for it are endless.  The hardest decision I had to make was what range I was going to use for it.  In the end the gorgeous colours of Gypsy sisters won.

“Journal” by Renee Ludlow- Kaisercraft Journal, Gypsy Sisters collection, die-cut elements, alpha stickers, chipboard alpha #1, black rub-ons, rhinestones (wine), paint (white), ink pad (brown)

Below are a few steps to recreating this journal.

1. Paint the covers of the journal using white paint.  Ink around the edges using brown ink.

2. Cut a 13.5cm x 19.5cm piece from Nadia (reverse). Ink the edges. Position the front cover over the paper and trace the leaf design.  Very carefully using a sharp craft knife cut out the leaves and stem, the leaves will be used later on so be sure to out them aside. Adhere to the journal cover and sand any over-hanging pieces.

3. Cut a rounded piece from the Ella paper (I used a plate to get this shape, very technical I know).  Ink the edges.  As before trace the leaf shape onto the paper and cut out, sanding any excess away.  I also added a scalloped edge around this piece before adhering down.

4. Add some die-cut elements, rhinestones and rub-ons to embellish.  Also add the title at this point.

5. Finally take the leaf shapes you had cut away earlier.  Ink the edges and fold the leaves roughly in half with Nadia paper facing up.  Adhere these to the journal by placing a small amount of glue along the fold and then positioning in place. You could also leave the leaves flat if you are worried they will be squashed.  My journal will sit safely on my bedside table so I like the added dimension that the folded leaves gives. You can add as few or as many of these leaves as you want.

I hope this has inspired you to give these journals a go, I guarantee you won’t be disappointed!
