How long have you been scrapbooking for and why did you start? I started scrapping in 1990 when my son was born. I used a magnetic album and cut pictures from Wrapping Paper!!! (And I am still a fan of fussy cutting!!) From there I moved onto Creative Memories in about 2002 and made a heritage album full of old photos and memorabilia from my ancestors. Then in around 2006/2007 I found the online scrapping community! I started my blog in 2006 and got on my very first design team Cyberscraps (Now closed) and the rest is history!!! I am totally addicted to this form of preserving my history!!
Where do you get your inspiration from? I am inspired so much from online challenges or product. I find that more often than not the product dictates what i want to do with it!! What style I use to scrap it and what photos i will use!. Day to day though I am inspired by online challenge blogs. I love sketch challenges and colour challenges!
Favourite subject to scrap – My family!!! I love to scrap everyone, but i find that i scrap mostly my daughter because she is the one infront of the camera most often!! I also try to scrap my hubby because the men tend to get left out a bit! My Son resists the camera so much so what ever photos i have of him are sneaky photo that i have had to use stealth to acquire!! I tell him that when he is going through photos with his own kids, he will regret that he doesn’t have that many!!! His response – KIDS???? I also scrap my adorable Nephew Zane who is going on 2 years old!
One word to describe yourself? (I have to use just one???)……. Let me come back to that!!
How would you describe your scrapping style? Eclectic without a doubt! I studied scrapbooking styles recently for an article i wrote and found that this best covered what i do! As I mentioned before, product or challenges really dictate to me how i will scrap something! I love mixed media and all things messy, but I am a total flower fan as well…
Favourite Kaisercraft Product? I totally LOVE the new Chanteuse Posies!! They are so versatile!!!
Favourite Kaisercraft Paper range to date? I really can’t decided which i like most! But i do love the June 2011 line Velvet Ensemble!!! And i Also love the Chanteuse Range!
Favourite Quote? “I’m not indecisive, I just can’t make up my mind!”
Favourite book? I love Teen Fantasy Novels! Think Twilight, Vampire Academy and also love the Dark Series by Christine Feehan! These are definitely not a Teen Novel, very erotic!!
Favourite Music? I listen to anything!! But I cant let you in on a little secret, but you can’t tell anyone……shhhhh….. I kinda like Justine Bieber!! But also love 80s music, Keith Urban, Pink, ABBA…..
Favourite Food? I love Thai Spring Rolls from “The Verdict!” Yummy! (See my blog, “The Verdict” features regularly!! lol
Any tips for a New Scrapper? There are never any mistakes in scrapping, just do it! Glue the paper down and move on!!! If it feels right to you, than that’s all that matters!!
Also, don’t cut up your original photos, if you’re going to crop them, scan them first and crop the copy! And another one, If you’re using Magnetic Albums and someone comes along and tells you to remove all your photos cause it’s not photosafe!!! Don’t listen to them! It’s taken you years to sort your photos and get them into albums, that’s the important thing! They are there, easy to refer to and everyone can look at them! I listened to people telling me to remove all my photos from Magnetic Albums and i did and now i am back to boxes so full of photos it’s not a joke and no one knows where anything is anymore!!!! Photos aren’t just about preserving for future family members, but also about reliving fun times now! Keep them in a way that anyone can just pull an album out and share in your memories!!!
