Loire Valley quick page and more layouts!

Just as we promised, here’s our latest quick page by digital CT member, Carole – she never ceases to amaze us with her creativity and eye for composition and we’re sure you’re going to love it too.

We’re not even sure where to start with all the features we’re liking – the die cuts, the cute scalloped border, the white space for journalling or the use of so many pretty colours. We found this photo of —– and made an easy-peasy two-minute layout with just a few additional elements to show you how quick pages can be used. Too easy!

Now we’re eager to show off a couple of CT member Sandra’s layouts in Loire Valley, the first of which uses some pretty serious hidden techniques experienced digi scrappers may recognise.

To create the red and black bracket-shaped frames, Sandra duplicated the kit’s single bracket and turned each layer 90 degrees to create a frame. She then united all four layers into one and clipped it with the black patterned paper.  She linked both layers together, duplicated them and made the second bracket frame smaller. Sandra then clipped the smaller frame again with the red patterned paper.

She also used two layers to make the string bow on the right side of the frame – an original layer on top and a second part of the rope  underneath it, to give the appearance of being tied under the frame. She created this effect by erasing part of the lower layer.

Even the birdhouse in the top right corner of the layout uses several layers! Sandra placed the black birdhouse element on top of the red birdhouse element, just a tiny bit below the first so some of the red birdhouse peeps through, and then erased the edges of the black birdhouse’s roof so it looks like the red roof is part of the black element. Very clever!

The title, which comes from the Life’s Moments brush kit, was duplicated four times and each time Sandra erased the part of the brush she didn’t want, allowing her to change the size of the words and place them in exactly the right spot.

We definitely think the outcome was worth all the fiddling around with duplications and layers, and we’re drooling over the photo…so very classic historical Europe!

We must say, we do also love her second layout, which has a very different vibe. It features a photo of her son which she said “matches perfectly” with the Loire Valley papers.

Sandra said she chose not to use the flower and bird elements and brushes in the kit for her boy layout, instead concentrating on the plain and lined papers and adding embroidered badges to add depth and texture.

More digi layouts to come in the next few days so if you feel like scrapping in the lead-up to Christmas, use this inspiration to get you started on your own creative journey!
