Lori Williams

A short paragraph about you:
Hi, I’m Lori Williams and I am a happy, fun loving, Southern girl who lives in the Western North Carolina, USA mountains.  I’m thrilled to be able to continue with Kasier’s Design team for my second year.  I’ve loved every minute of KC’s design team and can’t wait to join in again with the upcoming team.  I have two beautiful little boys who keep me running as they are 6 and 11 and full of energy.  Cole is my youngest and it’s hard to hold him down.  Will is my oldest son and is disabled.  Getting out of the house with him is a bit more challenging so I’m blessed to be able to share with the world my art, yet be at home with him.  I live right next door to my best friend and sister who scraps too, so we are a dangerous pair at an scrapbook expo, each enabling the other.  As you can tell my family is really my world and I love to be with them.    I’ve always participated in art in one form or the other, starting with pottery, then receiving a college degree in Jewelry/ Metal Production crafts and finally into paper with the birth of my oldest son.  Art is my form of therapy and my addiction and I love to try new techniques.  There is so much paper in the world and so little time.

How long have you been scrapbooking for and why did you start?
Twelve years.  I started with the birth of my son to record his life moments.  However in the last several years it has turned into more of an artistic expression where my children just happen to be the stars.

Where do you get your inspiration from?
Everyday Life which generally includes my crazy little boys.

Favourite subject to scrap:
Those moments when you think no one is looking, the non posed pictures.  I like for it to be real life.

One word to describe yourself?
My mother insists it’s Loving, but I would have to say Bubbley.

How would you describe your scrapping style?
Detailed, clean and more than meets the eye at first glance.

Favourite Kaisercraft Product?
Pearls, Pearls, and more Pearls please.  Honestly I can take antyhing Kaisercraft creates and love it.  It’s always such great quality and easy to use, so it’s hard to pick one thing.

Favourite Kaisercraft Paper range to date?
Timeless, it’s stunning and works with any type of layout.

Favourite Quote?
OK this sounds harsh but one of my father’s sayings to me growing up was ” Suck it up and move on”.  Honestly, with some of lifes ups and downs this is a great piece of advice and I find myself often saying it.  Another one of my favorites is from Dr. Suess’s Oh the Places You Will Go, I used in one of my first Kasier DT projects.  ”you will succeed yes you will indeed 98 3/4 percent guaranteed”

Favourite book?
OK, how is this for an oxymoron…The Bible and any Vampire Series (Twilight, Sookie Stackhouse, Black Dagger Brotherhood)

Favourite Music?
Stevie Nicks is my all time favorite singer, but I also love any 80′s big hair band : Aerosmith (Steven Tyler still has it going on), Bon Jovi and the Eagles.

Favourite Food?
Mexican, Mexican and then a bit more Mexican, although lately that has been few and far between as I’m on a quest to loose my pregnancy weight – 6 years after my last son, LOL.

Any tips for a New Scrapper…
Use it! I was the world’s worst for hoarding paper that I dearly loved saving it for that special project and then low and behold two years later it was outdated and I was on to something else, so I never actualy got the chance to use the paper to make something beautiful.  Should have just cut the paper and jumped in, so don’t hoard or be afraid of making a mistake.  There are no mistakes in art, just opportunities.
