Creative Card

Hello fellow Kaisercrafties! I hope you are enjoying the weeks inspiration with our HOT new Christmas Collections.

Today we have Ann-Katrin Toresen from our Contributing Design Team with a cute and simple card design!

“Christmas” Card By Ann-Katrin Toresen

Materials Used:
Silly Season Collection P727 Fairy Lights,  P724 Elf, PS163 Dasher, Printed Chipboard CB133, December 25th Rub ons RB936 and Silly Season Paper Pad PP851.

Ann-Katrin Says:

“My creative card is simply different folding.
Just take 7.5 cm (3 inch) from each side and make a fold. And then you have a perfect card to display both outside and inside and it’s stands by itself.
I used the same pattern paper outside and inside, on the two ends inside I have decorated with trees. I also love to use the rhinestones strips, it looks more exclusive.
And of course; I have to add some glitter to make the final touch.
Thanks for looking in today. I love making Christmas cards because I’m looking forward to Christmas so much..aren’t you?!”

But making lots and lots of cards can be so time consuming. What I love about the Silly Season Collection, is everything co-ordinates together, there are lots of little bits and pieces and really cute cards can be made in mass so quickly. A very practical approach to Christmas Card Making.”

Left to right: Tag#1: A part of Santa Claus is sticked under a fragment with glossy and the outline is embossed.Tag#2: The trees are stamped with Versamark and embossed with opalescent clear powder. The reindeer is coloured with distress Stain.Tag#3: With a die of  poïnsettia, we make these flowers with beautiful papers from paper pad. The Sparklets enhanced the middle of flowers. Behind the tags, we find different stickers to identify the gift. The tag #2 with its little pocket allows to insert a gift card if you want. The landscape of the paper/P720 Love is raised with stickles for a winter look. So, will you begin soon to make yours tags? ”

Lori Says:

”My mother has a Vintage Christmas Tree she puts up every year.  It something neither my sister or I will help her with, so afraid we will break the antique ornaments.  My mother always laughs and says it’s OK she breaks one or two every year,  but we still avoid helping at all cost.  When I walk in my mothers home and the tree is complete it gives me such a warm cozy feeling, which is exactly what Christmas is all about.  This collection give me that feeling too.  It’s elegant feel makes me wish for Christmas to be here soon.”

“Wreath on Paper-Pieced Window” Card by Pearl Lui

Materials Used: December 25th Festive (P717), Wish (P719), Clear Stamp (CS790);
Other: Markers, Black Ink Pad

Pearl says:

“I absolutely love the vintage feel of the December 25th collection and it’s one of the reasons I’m so drawn to the collection. But I wanted to show the line in a more contemporary light by adding lots of white space and paper-piecing the window. The back side of “Festive” is a lovely white polka dot on green which gives the illusion of snow falling. Add a wreath, a couple layers of matting, and just like that, a simple and contemporary take on a vintage collection.”

Tuesday Tip: Mini Book!

Hello everyone, welcome to our Tuesday Tip for the week.

Today we have our Contributing Design Team Member Pearl Lui showing us how to make ‘Mini books’!

“Silly Dears” Mini Book by Pearl Lui

Materials Used:
Silly Season Milk & Cookies (P728), Gingerbread (P729), Journal Tags (JT626), Printed Chipboard (CB133), Paper Pad (PP851), Jewels (RS424)
Other: Ribbon

Pearl Says:

“I made this mini book to be filled during the month of December leading up to Christmas. To play on the deer images on the front cover, I’ll actually will be listing all the things near and dear to my heart. :)

Tip: The Silly Season “Milk & Cookies” pattern paper is perfect for a mini book because it comes printed with natural 16 mini page delineations. You can Google for all the different ways of making a mini book, but my favorite is the meander mini book because it’s the easiest to make (in my opinion).

To make your own meander mini book, follow these simple steps:

1. Trim paper down to a 4×4 grid, then score at lines shown below:

2. Cut paper at dotted lines shown below:

3. Beginning at either end, fold at each scored line in a zig zag accordian pattern until you get to the fourth block where you fold up or down instead of left or right. Simply repeat this until the entire page is folded into a book.

4. There will be natural “pockets” where the up and down folds are made. You’ll have the option of gluing down the entire pocket or just apply glue in a “U” shape around 3 edges of the page to make a pocket. I made pockets to store journaling tags.

5. Finally, embellish the mini book with Jewels, Journal Tags, Printed Chipboard, and die-cuts from the back of the 6.5″x6.5″ Paper Pad.

It’s super easy and fun to make, so I hope you’ll make one for yourself! If you do, don’t forget to comment with a link of your 16 page meander mini book so we can see what you’ve made!”
