Silly Season: Layouts

Greetings to all Kaisercraft lovers!  Maybe you will think that there is still a lot of time before Christmas, but you will be surprised how fast the time flies once you get to December. So it is better to start preparing yourselves beforehand. Or maybe you can pull out some of the photographs from last year’s celebrations and keep yourself busy scrapping, while waiting to hear Santa’s bells again. We hope that new Silly Season collection and layouts from Svetlana, Genevieve, Jodi, Lori, and Pearl will help you in it.

*************************************

“Is it not Dec 25th?” Layout by Svetlana Austin

Materials used:
Silly Season Collection: Paper – Candy Cane/P726, Fairy Lights/P727, Presents/PS164; Paper Pad/PP851; Sticker Sheet/SS111; Printed Chipboard/CB133; Rub ons/RB937; Wooden Flourish – December/FL365; Rub-ons – Retro Alpha/RB943.

 Other: card-stock, hand stitching, eye-let, acrylic paint, black pen.

Svetlana says:

“I like the cheerfulness and brightness of this collection. Most of our Christmas celebrations turn into really silly seasons. We don’t keep any traditions – we just tend to go with the flow and truly enjoy this wonderful time. As you can see on my layout, if it suits us, we even don’t mind opening gifts a day or two earlier.”

*************************************

“Christmas Wishes” Layout by Genevieve Allen

Materials used:
Silly Season Collection: Paper –  Fairy Lights/P727, Milk & Cookies/P728, Dasher/PS163, Presents/PS164; Printed Chipboard/CB133; Journal Tags/JT626; Sparklets/RS408; Rhinestone/SB700-RS451; Jewels/RS424; Pearl Brads/EM932;
Mounting Foam/T302.
 Other: Bazzill, Shimmerz Spritz, Stickles, Dye, Punch, Pencil Zig,Duck Tape.

Genevieve says:

“The pictures of my granddaughter Meredith giving her Christmas wish list were the most appropriate for this collection. Do you see all these colors? WOW! I love it! I have worked with the shining silver. I did snowflakes with Duck tape and added it under my pictures. The sparklets and rhinestones completed this effect. Trees, gifts and reindeer are in 3D. A little picture showing the christmas wish list is slipped under the assembling.”

“Breakfast with Champions” Layout By Jodi Dolbel

Products Used: Silly Season Collection Papers – Fruit Cake/P723, Fairy Lights/P727, Dasher/PS163, Paper Pad/PP852, Sticker Sheet/SS111, Painted Chipboard/CB133, Rub Ons/RB937, Jewells/RS424, Paper Blooms – Olive/F633, Fuchsia/F639.

Other: Artline Pen

Jodi Says:

“The colours in this collection are so bright and funky and can be used for layouts from any time of the year! I love the Lime Greens, which is my all time favorite colour! By adding just a hand drawn line around the circles and embellishments on the page, just makes them stand out a little more.”

*************************************

“1977″ By : Lori Williams Leng

Materials Used:
Fruit Cake/ P723, Dasher/ PS163, Paper Pad/ PP851, Clear Stamp Typewriter Font/ CS785, Rub Ons/ RB937, Fairy Lights/ P727, Sticker Sheet/ SS111, Jewels /RS424

Lori Says:

“There is nothing like the twinkle in the eye of a child on Christmas morning.  The excitment of what the day will hold, it’s priceless.  This layout is of my sister and I almost 34 years ago.  I was six and my sister was 10, just the right age to enjoy.  I suppose I’m telling my age, but that’s OK.  For a layout of two little girls, Silly Season worked wonders.  It’s bright, poppy colors blended so well and really helped give the fun feel of the event.”

*************************************

“Cookies” Layout by Pearl Lui

Materials Used:
Silly Season Jingle Bell (P722), Fruit Cake (P723), Fairy Lights (P727), Paper Pad (PP851), Journal Tag (JT626)

Other: Dyes, Ribbon, Twine, Gloss

Pearl says:

“I love the pinks and greens in the Silly Season collection. There’s something sweet and fun about the patterns and colors. It’s perfect to highlight photos of sweets, as I did here, with home-baked cookies… a sure sign of Christmas and the winter days! To play off of the sweet factor, I used the pink design from the “Fairy Lights” pattern paper as the background. To play off of the fun factor, I created hanging ornaments and a skewed title.”

Svetlana Says:

“December 25th collection has a very appealing vintage feel to it. It is perfect for scrapping many different themes, not only about Christmas. From the beginning I wanted to make  a winter theme layout using this collection. When I saw this photograph in one of our albums, I thought that the colors in it will go perfectly with the December 25th papers. This picture is very special to me, it is just one of those special moments, you know.

I used dry brush and white acrylic paint to add a touch of frost to my layout. Some flower-soft snow completed the winter picture.”

“When I first saw the December 25th Collection I was instantly reminded of the colours in the beautiful handmade quilts we often see come out on display at Christmas Time. That lovely deep Burgundy colour and the beautiful forest green and metallic gold, so reminiscent of Christmas Decorations of old… So I was inspired to create a layout based on a patterned quilt design featuring photos of our Christmas Tree. The photos were taken using the Hispamatic Application on my IPhone, so they also have that old world look about them..”

Pearl says:

“It’s hard to tell but the December 25th Foil Specialty Hark pattern paper has metallic gold accents on the stars and angels in the  pattern. The gold is perfect to compliment the pretty lights of the Rockafeller Christmas tree in my photos. To add some contrast to the vintage feel of the papers, I added bright punches of red in form of the satin ribbon and red & white twine. And to further play on the gold lights, I chose one of the gold polka dot pattern papers in the 6.5″x6.5″ paper pad to create the title.”

*************************************

“Our Christmas Cutie” Layout by Vicki Morris

Vicki says:

“The tonings in the “December 25th” collection are just gorgeous – still traditional but subtle so they are a perfect fit for many occassions.”

Miss Nelly: BTP

Hello Kaisercrafties, I hope you have enjoyed this month of inspiration with Miss Nelly and Hunt and Gather.

To finish the month on a high, I hope you enjoy all of these gorgeous projects that I have collected for you below. Our Contributing Design Team have done an awesome job..so enjoy them!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 “Wings” By Toni Crane
Materials Used:
Kaisercraft 6.5″ frame (SB2114), Kaisercraft Dress Form (SB122), Miss Nelly Paper Pad (PP849), Miss Nelly Her Habits (P713), Wooden Flourish Wings (FL346), Pearl Strip Champagne (PL503), Rub ons Timeless Treasures (RB945), Paper Blooms Coconut (F640), Paper Blooms Cranberry (F638), Mini Paper Blooms Aubergine (F654), White Lace (E926).
Other products: white flowers, leaves, tulle, paint, ink, ribbon, kindy glitz, transparency, grunge board wings.
Toni says:
“I wanted a frame that would be able to sit on a shelf or my desk, so I combined both the 6.5″ frame and one of the free-standing dress forms.
Wanting a shabby chic look, I painted the frame and form with a pale pink, then a top coat of white. Sanding all of the edges gives a distressed shabby feel to the project.
To get the full pleated skirt for the dress form, join 2 pieces of paper from the paper pad, and concertina it, flaring the bottom. The Miss Nelly paper pad has a lot of small detailed papers that work perfectly for projects like this.
I added tulle to the bottom of the skirt to add a strip of colour and hid the top of the pleats with a spray of flowers, ribbon, and tulle, finished with a butterfly rub on on a scrap piece of transparency, folded in the middle and kindy glitz. Then added some flourish rub ons and pearls for detail.
The quote in the frame has been printed onto transparency, and although this one is designed to be permanent, it would be a simple solution to not seal the top of the frame and be able to change the quote as your moods and circumstances change, or even add a photo.
Inking the glossy pink pattern paper on the front of the frame with white brings out the pattern and softens the bright pink.
Flowers were added to the base of the dress form, and the top right corner of the frame completes the visual triangle and finishing with a bit of kindy glitz to the edges of the flowers leaves adds sparkle.”
“I am a real softy when it comes to cuteness – so when I saw the red and white spotted paper in the Miss Nelly range I grabbed them quick!
Of course I needed an outlet for this cuteness which I managed to find in the latest release from Kaisercraft – the 3 Draw Peg Shelf!
The intention is for this to be used for my youngest daughter’s room – as she just loves red!  We haven’t really decided what she is going to store in it – but a couple of thoughts of using the hooks for her necklaces and hairbands is the top of the list, with the draws being used for her clips and little jewels.  While other ideas of using the hooks for her hats and scarves are coming into the conversation as well – I can see myself creating more of these versatile little storage shelves!”
“I wanted this clock to turn out to be bright, but crisp and cool. I achieved it by contrasting the background ˆ white paint and dark blue paper, and by doodling the flower design and scalloped frame with thin black marker.”
 “Keepsake/Gift/Jewellery Box” By Cassandra Bright
Materials Used:
Miss Nelly paper-Her Smile (P708), Rub Ons (RB934), Paper Blooms-Sea Breeze (F631), Mini Paper Blooms-Ruby (F653) Fuchsia (F656) Dusty Pink (F658), Kaisercraft Acrylic Paint-White (KC001)
Cassie says:
“I bet your all loving playing with the new gorgeous ranges from Kaisercraft! I felt like doing something a little bit different with my Miss Nelly papers and made a Keepsake/Gift/Jewellery Box. Let your imagination decide what you would use this for! And how cute would it look in a little girl’s room!
The box is a wooden ply box purchased from a variety store for a bargain price. I first used a mini screwdriver to take the hinges and closure off the box, as they can get quite yucky looking if you leave them on while painting, plus if you remove them you have a more professional look. I have then painted the entire box with Kaisercraft Acrylic White Paint (KC001) inside and out.
If you look at the picture above you will notice I have used one of the fantastic colour Rub Ons I have added to the glass top of the box. I’d never applied a rub on onto glass before so I was thrilled when it came up a treat. I have also added Miss Nelly colour Rub Ons to provide a border for the glass window looking into the box.
To decorate the outsides of the box and the base inside the box I have used Miss Nelly-Her Smile paper (P708). I have applied this to the box using Modge Podge. Once all sides were covered I have then Modge Podged the entire inside and outside of the box, even over the border rub ons to help preserve them.
And to finish added some Paper Blooms. I hope I have provided some inspiration for you all today.
Thanks for stopping by xo”
 “Miss Nelly Boxes” By Michelle Frisby
Materials Used:
EM923 paper tags, RB934 rub ons, EM926 white lace, RS422 jewels, PP849 paper pad, Variety of paper blooms and mini blooms
Extras – box template and ink
Michelle says:
“ It’s no secret that I love making little boxes and filling them with treats. So it’s no surprise that I made these shabby boxes to pop in a wee gift for a scrappy buddy.  They aren’t very big, think to yourself 2 inch square. Perfect for a wee pick me up!!  To give a little bit of extra detail I curled and inked  the edges.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

 Mannequin Album” By Genevieve Allen

Materials Used:
Large Mannequin, Miss Nelly Collection Papers, Paper Blooms, Pearl Flourishes, Rhinestone Flourishes, Lace
Other: Ribbon

Genevieve says:
“With such a feminine BTP as the mannequin, let’s let our imagination run wild! hand-made flowers and Rhinestones embellish the front of the mannequin.
The back of the skirt of this mannequin hides a mini-album. I have added few pictures of the birth of Manon.
Would you agree this it a nice decoration for a little girl’s bedroom?!!
Miss Nelly, a collection that is soft and bright to cover everyones different needs!!”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 ”Dream Big” By Janna Werner
Materials Used:
Miss Nelly Collection: Her Dreams (P712), 6 ½” Paper Pad (PP849); Wooden Flourishes “Bicycle” (FL354), Alpha Chipboard #2 (CB108) Sparklets (RS420), Acetate “Four Corners” (PS176), 6,5” Frame (SB2114)
Janna Says:
“ The 6.5” frames are perfect for photos but also to create some home decoration. First I painted the wood frame in pink and added a thin layer of Gesso after the first layer was completely dry. I left some spots blank so the pink will shine through as this gives a lovely shabby look to the project. I used some of my scraps to decorate the frame and heat embossed the chipboard. The sheet of music is an overlay, it´s called Four Corners and it is fantastic to add the certain something to the frame.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

 ”Flower Basket” By Jodi Dolbel

Miss Nelly Collection Paper Pad (PP849), Rhinestone  Strip – Hot Pink (RS454)
Other Items: Pre Purchased Wire Basket, Tulle Ribbon, Border Punches, Hot Glue Gun

The individual flowers in the box have been made by hand using the papers in the Miss Nelly Collection.”

 ”Love Mannequin” By Pearl Lui

Large Mannequin (SB2123); Miss Nelly Her Dreams (P712), Her Style (P710), Her Eyes (P707), Canvas Tags (EM964), Rub on (RB934); Tag in Raw Kraft (EM925) and White (EM923); Acrylic Paint in Spearmint (KC044); Pearl Brads in Pearl (EM930);
