Challenges Saturday Sketches

Saturday Sketch – January #1

January 8, 2011

Happy New Year folks!!

A new year means a fresh new look, and over the coming weeks, the Kaisercraft Blog will be given a little facelift!

Starting with that cute heading you see up above – easy to read and find!!

For those who are unfamilar with our MONTHLY SATURDAY SKETCH challenge, here’s what happens:

The rules:

Each Saturday every month a new sketch and inspirational layouts will be posted here on the blog. From these sketches (depending on how many Saturday’s there are), you have that many chances to create a layout of your own and upload it to any gallery of your choice, or in a blog post, facebook page, the Kaisercraft Gallery etc.

Once your layout is complete and uploaded along with the sketch name/number and month, link your layout into the comments section of the approapriate sketch blog post and you’re entry is complete!

The deadline:

Comment on this post (or other January sketch posts) with your linked layout before 31st January.

The prize:

1st PLACE: One of Kaisercraft’s new collections (valued at approximately $50).

2nd PLACE: A Kaisercraft scrap pack (including new products) valued at approximately $30.

Let’s have a closer look at Kerryn and Kirsty’s layouts:

“Double layouts (and sketches) can seem overwhelming.  Don’t feel that you have to try and fit everything in though.  Start with the number of photos you would like to use and build from there.  I have only used 3 4×6 photos but you can still clearly see the sketch within my layout.

I have used a couple of embellishment clusters in place of extra photos.  Make the sketch work for you and you will find that they aren’t as hard as they might seem”.

Kerryn Lawson: Products Used:After Five patterned paper Tuxedo (P581), Black Tie (P582), Cocktail (P583) and Crevat (P588), Paper flowers – snow (F601), Pearl flourishes – Elegant Pearl (PL507), Rhinestone flourishes – Decorative Island Lagoon (RS465), After Five diecut elements (DC329), Lush Black Rubons (RB867), After Five Quote rubons (RB884), Alpha Stickers – White (AS221) & Powder Blue (AS219, Secret Bird Society patterned paper – Private diecut (PS109), Be Merry patterned paper – Glee (P557), Homemade patterned paper – Simple Stitches (P568), Lush Colour rubons (RB868), After Five Borders Rubons (RB883), Rhinestones – Ice Blue (SB774), Pearls – Teal (SB783), Ink – Antique Blue (IP716), Lace – Black (EM929), After Five Champagne transparency (PS125), Paper tags & shapes – white (EM923), After Five 6×6 paper pad (PP833). Other products used : Prima butterfly, glimmermist, punches, kindyglitz, sizzix die, flowerbuds.

“I liked using this sketch! I managed to overcome my fear of Double page LOs easily, because this sketch made it easy to see where everything should go to give a balanced LO! The little tab above the photo on the left hand side, prompted me to add some extra hidden photos and journalling to my page!”

Kirsty Piper ‘September 2009′, Seaside – Patterned Paper; Coastline(P595), Rock Pools(P592), Umbrella(P591), Escape(P593), Seaside Other- Clear Stamps (CS767), 6’ Paper Pad(PP834), Die Cut Elements(DC330), Canvas Tags Embellishment Pack(EM942), Printed Chipboard(CB118). KaiserCraft Other: Island Lagoon Classic Flourish (RS462), Island Lagoon Elegant Flourish(RS459), Homemade Embellishment Pack, Buttons(EM936), Mounting Foam Dots(T302), Chocolate and white Mini Alphas(MA503), Alpha stickers Red(AS224)

We look forward to seeing all your fantastic creations! And don’t forget to tell your friends!

Just love this sketch & all 3 DT samples are just divine!

Just wondering if we have to use ALL Kaiser products to participate in the sketch challenges?

I’m really looking forward to attempting these throught out the month. I love your products and have been searching the web for challenge sites to keep my going as sometimes I run short of ideas and I find challenges really helpful.

70% kaiser should be easy enough – the double layout may not be so simple LOL

  • Reply Debbie Buckland January 10, 2011 at 9:17 am

ooops please ignore my entry – I took it off as it was not 70% Kaiser craft. sorry.

Hi! Let me start off by saying… I LOVE KaiserCraft!!!

I’m a bit new to this contest so I have one question…
Do I have to have a blog in which I have to post my layout and then link it in my comment on here? I do not have a blog yet, but I am seriously thinking of starting one. In the meantime, if I post my layout in my gallery and link it from here, will that qualify as a contest entry?

Thank you so much for your attention!
    Nicole :-)
