Svetlana Austin

My name is Svetlana Austin. I am from Russia, but I’ve been living in South Africa for the past 9 years. I am very happily married to my husband of 10 years, and we have two amazing sons – Ivan and Sebastian. I am working in my husband’s business, which gives me opportunity to work from home flexible hours. My family is very supportive of my hobby, and I would say that they are my biggest fans.

How long have you been scrapbooking for and why did you start?
I was introduced to scrapbooking by my friend almost 7 years ago. I always liked to do something creative, and I was very excited to try something new. For a long time I didn’t scrap without much passion, because there was not a lot of scrap-materials available in our town, and I didn’t really know other scrap-obsessed people, who would inspire me to try something new. But luckily it all changed!

Where do you get your inspiration from?
My family, our time spent together during many of our outings around our beautiful country and most of all – my two boys, are my main inspiration for creating my scrap-pages. I also get inspired by things which I see around me in every day life – children’s clothes, a page in a magazine, an arrangement in a shop’s window… Actually I find inspiration all around me.

Favorite subjects to scrap: My two boys, off course!

One word to describe yourself: One word from a person, who talks a lot?! OK, I would say I am loyal.

How would you describe your scrapping style?
Artsy, eclectic, but in general my style depends very much on the photographs I use, or on the object I scrap.

Favorite Kaisercraft products: First of all it is paper, and I very much love rub-ons and stamps.

Favorite Kaisercraft paper range to date: Secret Bird Society, Class of 87 and Party Animals

Favorite quote: “Contentment is not the fulfillment of what you want, but the realization of how much you already have.”

Favorite book: I like reading – very different type of things, but if to name one, then without a doubt it is the Bible.

Favorite music: My taste in music is very diverse, the most important to me that it must be good quality music. Most of the time I prefer something soft and relaxing.

Favorite food: I like my food! My favorites depend on the season: in summer time I like something light as sushi or fresh salad, but in winter time I cook a lot of old fashioned comfort dishes.

Tips for a new scrapper: Don’t be scared of making mistakes – after all it is not exam papers, but it is all about having good time! From my own experience I can say that the result is much better most of the time, if I need to fix my mistakes. Sometimes mistakes turn to be wonderful discoveries of new great techniques! Just have fun!
