New Wood Flourishes

This month we’ve introduced a new core range of wood embellishments in a variety of designs including popular birds, birdcages, keys and nature inspired designs – we’re sure you’ll love them all!

Inspiring Ideas...

Accordian Frame wall art project by Renee Ludlow

Materials: Kaisercraft Accordian Frames (SB145), Le Chateau collection (paper, paper pad, black rubons, die cut elements), Birds & Bird Cages wooden embellishments.

Steps:

1. Paint or ink edges of your six frames in black paint/ink.
2. Adhere squares of patterned paper to your frames, and cut out centre holes – here Renee has used a mixed of paper, flocked paper and spot varnish paper from the paper pad. Add ‘background’ papers of photos to your frames.
3. Ink edges of your frames and add faux stitching if desired. Adhere your frames together using strong craft glue and wait to dry.
4. Once dry add die cut elements, rubons, wooden embellishments to your desire.

What are little girls and boys made of?

For little girls, it’s sugar a spice, for little boys, well quite the opposite – bugs, snails and puppy dog’s tails!

This month we’re celebrating the little people in our lives, our children, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends – those that make us feel alive by celebrating and delighting in the simple things in life and having fun!

This month we’re sharing a couple of projects created by our Design Team using our new mini pigment ink pads.

Sleeping Beauty layout by Alicia barry

Materials: Made with Love papers, embellishment pack, alphabet stickers, chipboard alphabet, wooden flourishes SB729, SB723, SB722, paper flowers F607, Rhinestones SB752.

Inking is a great tool to use for distressing elements to add interest and dimension to your layout.

In this layout, Alicia has altered a piece of plain patterned paper for her background.

To achieve this look, spray your paper with some water until the paper is damp but not soggy. Gently scrunch your paper into a tight ball. The tighter your ball the more creased surfaces you will have for the ink to stick to. Uncurl your ball and flatten out . Your paper will not go completely flat, but will have lots of lovely random creases all over, and adds some great texture. Gently swipe your ink pad over the top of your paper, so that you end up with ink on the peaks of your creases. Once dry, adhere to your cardstock with a strong adhesive.

In addition to inking the background, I also used ink to add colour to my wooden flourishes.

Inks are perfect for this as they dry almost instantly, and there is no messy cleanup afterwards.

Masking technique by Christine Rumley

Materials: Shaken not Stirred paper collection, clear stamps, Kaisercraft Ink Pad Lipstick (IP714).

Step 1.  Stamp an image and heat emboss it.  I've used the journal block stamp from the Shaken Not Stirred Collection and embossed it with white embossing powder.

Step 2.  Grab another colour ink and swipe it all over your cardboard.  I used Kaisercraft's new "Lipstick" inkpad.

Step 3.  Wipe off the excess ink with a tissue and trim out your image.

Step 4.  Finish off your project by adding rub-ons and papers.  I made a card using the Shaken Not Stirred paper collection and the Birthday Cards

RB811 rub-ons.

Sweet at sugar...Candy Shop!


Is your New Years resolution to give something new a try? Ever been curious about digital scrapping?

There's never been a better time to take a deep breath and plunge into the exciting world of computer-based scrapbooking!

For the first time ever, Kaisercraft digital is going brand new, with four totally original collections to be released this month and plenty of exciting new content coming all the time.

That's right - January will feature four never-before-seen collections made solely for digital, designed to pique interest in Kaisercraft's digital product range and provide dedicated digi scrappers with some more bang for their buck.

 

 

 

 

Our previous 15 collections, which include classic ranges from years past as well as two of our best-selling Q1 ranges, are still available but will now be joined by four new comrades - Candy Shop (available now), Camp Stoneybrook (available January 11), School Days (available January 18) and Amour (available January 25).

Lovers of all things sweet and sugary will instantly fall in love with the bright and happy colour palate of Candy Shop, as well as the cute images of ice cream cones and candy, a huge variety of elements and plenty of patterned and striped papers. Perfect for your summer snaps and family holiday photos, Candy Shop evokes memories of long summer days lying on the grass lazily eating dripping ice cream cones.



January will also see the release of three more collections, beginning with Camp Stoneybrook, which features earthy, natural colours and the cutest textured illustrations around! It's a very digi Christmas!

Is there a more perfect time of year to savour special family memories and happy holiday moments than Christmas?

Not according to our digital creative team, who are using their love for all things digi to guide them in their quest for adorable holiday cards, ornaments and traditional greetings.

And we're doing our part as well, producing several gorgeously festive Christmas postcards for you to download and send off to all your nearest and dearest!

Our postcards, which feature cute Christmassy images of snowflakes, trees and presents, need nothing more than your favourite Christmas photo or family picture to create a cheery greeting to welcome the holidays.

They will be available soon, including one that you can download for free to start you off on your Christmas greetings bonanza!

Creative team member Kerryn had a similar idea for helping her children spread the yuletide cheer among their school friends with this simple but oh-so-effective Christmas postcard.

We're loving the idea of creating cool Christmas BTP projects or anticipatory layouts...if anything, it's making us even more excited about sharing the big day with our families and loved ones.

$227,159.55 has been raised!

That’s right, since we opened the factory outlet in the old tin shed in September 2007, $227,159.55 has been raised for the causes we support. When we minus the GST that equates to $206,508.68. With this money many people’s lives have been changed. From food, shelter and education to land, fences and buildings. This is an amazing amount and one that we hope will increase dramatically with the opening of the new stores.

We received photos of the “Home of the swallow” receiving their goods that we provided the funds for. It is always exciting to see the smiles on peoples faces when they receive items you know are going to make their lives better.

‘Agape Home’ in Thailand is a home for HIV/AIDS kids that we send scrapbooking supplies to, and volunteers turn them into scrapbooks for each adopted child. This month 6 children are being adopted so the race is on to finish the scrapbooks for each child. They were in great need of alphabets to complete pages so we sent off 300 sets of alphabets stickers directly to Thailand.

In Australia, we support many different organizations in their fundraising attempts. Every week we receive approximately two or three requests for donation. These donations are separate from our causes money and as such are not included in the above figures.

One such fundraising event was held in Canberra recently to raise money for Operation Christmas Child (OCC). OCC is an organization that encourages people to fill a shoe box with certain items ( a toy, article of clothing, sweets, items for hygiene etc.)  and  OCC collects them and then distributes these shoeboxes to people in third world countries. Last year they collected 300,000 shoeboxes from Australia and New Zealand. The event in Canberra was a scrapaganza that raised $2,500.00 for OCC. It was so successful they are holding a card making day in November both in Canberra and Narrandra to which we are donating more product too. We wish them well for these upcoming fundraisers.

Scrap & Chat – Friday 27th November:

Enjoy a night of crafting with your friends. Come along and scrap for a good cause. Free tea and coffee. $5 per person, bookings are essential and can be made at the outlet.

Come along for a fun family day from 9am onwards. Sausage sizzle, showbags, lucky dips, face painting, colouring-in competition. Come along and make a Christmas Card to send to our kids in orphanages overseas.

11am – 5pm. For just $40, come along and make your very own Christmas table setting! Enjoy a light Christmas lunch and Christmas cheer! Special offers available.
